The Beale Street Blast

THE BEALE STREET BLAST

The BEALE STREET BLAST is an annual gathering of preachers and anyone else who is interested in learning how to be effective in all types of public evangelism. Held each year the first week-end in May, it begins on Thursday night and runs through Sunday night. It is scheduled to coincide with the Memphis in May Music Fest, which draws in 150,000 to 200,000 thousand people to a music orgy that lasts all week-end.

The focus is on actual street work, so we spend Friday night, Saturday afternoon & night and Sunday night out on the streets witnessing, preaching and reproving "the unfruitful works of darkness" as we are exhorted to do in Ephesians 5.

A great rally starts the BLAST off with Bro. Jerry Sutek getting us fired up and ready to go. We attempt to dampen the party just a little for the revelers when we march down the street through their street party with our own parade carrying 35-50 banners, singing Victory In Jesus complete with a big bass drum, stopping every few feet for men to preach in the front and off the sides of our parade.

Each morning we have several 'breakouts' going on with training in legal matters, voice control, cults etc. as well as one session for the women and more preaching.

It's a great time of learning, fellowship and most of all actually getting out there where the people are and doing what God has called us to do.

The BLAST will be held this year at Camp Cordova, a Baptist campground about 20 minutes east of downtown Memphis. We try to keep all charges minimal. Come for whatever length of time you can stay. It'll be well worth your time.
